Twenty Years of Fun on Two Wheels
In 2006, Genuine Scooters introduced a scooter that would go on to become one of the most beloved small-displacement scooters in America: the Genuine Buddy.

What started as a simple, approachable scooter designed for everyday transportation quickly became something much more. Over the past 20 years, the Buddy has carried riders to work, school, coffee shops, scooter rallies, first dates, and countless adventures. It has introduced thousands of people to life on two wheels and helped shape scooter communities across the country.
Today, we're proud to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Genuine Buddy.
Built for Real Riders
The Buddy's success has never been about being the biggest, fastest, or most expensive scooter on the road.
Instead, the Buddy earned its reputation by being reliable, approachable, affordable, and fun. From city streets to college campuses, riders discovered that a Buddy could turn even the most routine trip into something enjoyable.
Its lightweight design, easy handling, and unmistakable personality helped make the Buddy a favorite among new riders while earning the respect of experienced scooter enthusiasts.
Over the years, the Buddy lineup has expanded to include a variety of engine sizes, colors, and special editions, but the core philosophy has remained the same: simple transportation that puts a smile on your face.
A Scooter That Built a Community
One of the most remarkable things about the Genuine Buddy is the community that grew around it.
Across the United States, Buddy owners formed riding groups, attended rallies, participated in charity rides, and built friendships through a shared passion for scooters. For many riders, the Buddy wasn't simply a vehicle. It became a gateway into a larger community.
From local dealer rides to national scooter events, the Buddy has been there every step of the way.
The stories we've heard over the last two decades are what make this milestone truly special. Every Buddy has a story, and every rider adds another chapter to the history of this scooter.
A Badge Twenty Years in the Making
To help celebrate this milestone, Genuine Scooters has created a special 20th Anniversary Buddy badge.

The commemorative badge is a small tribute to the riders who have made the Buddy such an important part of the Genuine story over the last two decades.
The First Buddy Owner
As part of this anniversary celebration, we're honored to share photos of one of the very first Genuine Buddy owners from Scooterworks Chicago.
When the Buddy first arrived in dealerships in 2006, few could have predicted the impact it would have on the scooter industry in the United States. Seeing one of those early owners today serves as a reminder of just how far the Buddy has come and how many riders have been part of its journey.

Looking Ahead
Twenty years later, the Buddy continues to introduce new riders to the freedom and convenience of scooter ownership.
While technology, trends, and transportation options have evolved, the Buddy's mission remains unchanged: provide an easy, fun, and dependable way to get around.
To every rider who has owned a Buddy, attended a ride, shared a photo, recommended one to a friend, or simply waved to another scooter rider at a stoplight, thank you for helping make the last 20 years so memorable.
Here's to the next chapter of the Genuine Buddy.
Happy 20th Anniversary, Buddy.
The road ahead looks just as exciting as the one behind us.
